My Learning Years
I was born seemingly unnoticed among vast numbers of other Baby Boomers. My childhood in Nebraska was uneventful. I attended Benson High School. Our team mascot was a bunny rabbit. We were the ‘Fighting Benson Bunnies’. I never really got over that.

Growing up among country folk gave me a strong sense of down home values and a deep appreciation for indoor plumbing. That’s about it for then.

My Earning Years
The sixties are pretty much a fog. No photos exist, so we’ll skip the sixties? I do know by the seventies I found myself in Seattle, Washington selling real estate. My gift for gab and clean driving record stood me well for many years. When the eighties arrived with sky high interest rates, I sought cover and riches in stocks and bonds and the glamour of Wall Street. All too soon I learned a stock broker is merely a telemarketer in a coat and tie and an investment banker is a carni-barker with Shinola on his shoes. When a winning raffle ticket offered a free Mexico vacation -- I took it.

Those decades taught me a lot about markets, products, people and profits, all valuable lessons for the future.

My Yearning Years
Back to the vacation: Hmmm? I thought, I could work in Mexico six months per year and return home for six. While that never happened, I did find office work at a popular timeshare resort and the beach was only thirty feet away. Not bad!

It was that serendipitous combination of real estate, securities, timeshares and Fighting Bunny spirit that resulted in Holiday Group. The year was 1992. I began to loose sight of my hair, but not my goals.

My Discerning Years
Since then Holiday has continued to grow -- an amazing 30% year over year. Much of that success due to a devoted group of people that share in the belief that, “That happiness comes from providing the same to others.”

As I look back . . . those down home values have indeed come in handy . . . the indoor plumbing too.
